Ward Campout

Our summer's wouldn't be complete if we didn't attend the annual Ward Campout. This year I helped organize the event with a few other people. We camped up in my old stomping grounds beyond Kamas, up Mirror Lake Hwy. Pine Valley campground was the perfect getaway for roughly 20 people for two nights. On Saturday morning a few more folks came up to enjoy a breakfast with us.
Here is a glimpse from the weekend.
So grateful for Grandpa's truck!

What is camping without a "Hobo Stew"? Ground turkey, carrots and yams!

Chris being a Boy Scout...with gasoline!

He didn't really need his eyebrows anyway...

Henry's Top Knot!

Having our bikes with us was marvelous...
they allowed us to get away from the crowd and go on an adventure of our own!
Breakfast Friday morning in our messy campsite! Chair? Anyone?
We decided to rent a canoe from the Samak Smoke House for the day. It was a big hit!
This is at Trial Lake, which is very low this year. Talie was captivated by all the dead fish carcasses stuck under rocks. She saw and smelled maggots! Gross!
A self-timed family portrait on a hike we took after canoeing across the lake.
 Foliage. Up close.
Talie leading Maylee and Peyton on a hike. I followed.
Talie learning about fallen Aspen trees. The forest was particularly "dead" this year.
One of my favorite things to do is roast bacon over the fire. Yummo!
All the children doing a "treasure hunt" in sawdust.
Love her little girl profile! And her hair is finally getting longer!
Rock Pets by Candace, our Primary President. She always had a great activity up her sleeve!
Of course I had to stop off at the Summit Inn for some pizza!
The kids and I enjoyed our pizza. Chris thinks it gross and refuses to eat it...I guess gas station corn dogs are better?...bleck!
Little Henry chowing down and being extremely exhausted from a fun filled weekend!

The mountains are wonderful and we all enjoyed playing ourselves silly for a few days!
