Fridays are fabulous. Chris doesn't have school, and since he is home from work before 2pm, we usually have a ton of time to actually do something together! So today, instead of laying around being lazy, we decided to get outdoors with the kiddos and go snowshoeing. We drove up Big Cottonwood Canyon about 10 minutes and found a trail that Chris and I had done earlier last week without the kids.
Turns out snowshoeing is a little more difficult with 30 or so extra pounds strapped to your back...we hiked up Mill B South trail for about an hour (translated: 1 mile) and then Talie announced that she had to pee. Since she has yet to learn the art of squatting, (how do you teach that?!), we turned back to the car.
It all ended very nicely with a trip to Target for the facilities, vacuum bags (Kennore 5055) and a few other incidentals. (Can I just say that I LOVE Targets shopping carts? And the uber strong hand dryers in the bathroom, which Talie will have nothing to do with. What a shame.)
Aaaanyway-
Snowshoeing rocked and except for Chris's blister on his left heel, we pretty much are really good at it. Also, getting out of the dirty air inversion was great!
(This has been a very parenthetical post, did you notice?)

So fun! It's amazing how much harder things are with kids sometimes eh? So worth it though, your kids are going to love that you took them to do things like that!
ReplyDeleteLove everyone bundled up. What a cute little family you have! And no, I didn't notice :)
ReplyDeleteDo you guys have your own snowshoes? Good luck with the whole squatting thing, we tried with Lainee once and she just started sobbing. Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteYes, Becky. We do have our own snowshoes...my brother gifted them to us a few years ago. Best gift ever! They just keep on giving!
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend them for your family, being that you live at the North Pole now!
