Misadventure #...lost count

Ever heard of buying something purely based on emotion? Well, we have- and we did just that when we purchased this beautiful Toyota Tundra a few years ago while living in Boise, ID. Did we love this truck? Yes. Did we need this truck? Ah, debatable... Did we use this truck? Absolutely. But, nonetheless, this purchase was a bit rash and we probably would not have purchased it had we slept on it. But I tell you- that salesman knew ALL the tricks and roped us in like bees to honey...or something like that. Soon after we bought the truck, we moved to Idaho Falls, enjoyed its capabilities to help us move and haul stuff- then we tried to sell it...for an ENTIRE YEAR! not one looker ever followed through because we never really wanted to sell it...every time we would show it, our fingers were crossed and we were thinking, "please dont buy it, please dont buy it!" So, of course, they wouldnt buy it. Funny how that worked. So we move to Utah, decide that really- this time we need to sell the truck- really. I guess the timing was right and someone else's hand was in on the scheme, because within a week of posting the truck for sale, we had a buyer. We finally did it. After two years of driving our Toyota Tundra...and LOVING it...we finally sold the black beast. I, of course, most affectionately, called him Rick. Good bye Rick.
The lesson learned: NEVER- NEVER MAKE LARGE PURCHASES BASED ON EMOTION- AND ALWAYS- ALWAYS SLEEP ON IT!

Using the lesson learned and mentioned above, we replaced Rick with a nice little 2000 Honda Accord EX after much shopping around and being sure about the decision. It feels good to make choices together this way.
This new car is still earning her name. We'll keep you posted on that. Any suggestion are welcome. (pic 2: new owners @ the exchange)

  1. We did that with our Saturn, it was half "buy on a whim" and half "we need a car now." Now we don't really love it. Wanna buy it?
